Home edition!!!
My husband and I are DIY people!
1: Home=painting
Part of our kitchen cabinets. Yes I sanded and painted them. Hours of my life... |
If you paint, I recommend Behr. It is wonderful! |
I LOVE growing things.
I blogged about it here.
I am obsessed with this flower right now. It's called purslane. |
3: Home=linens
I love table cloths and kitchen towels.
My best kept secret is that I buy most of my kitchen towels at Joann craft store.

4: Home=endless possible projects
Here are some projects my hubby and I will be doing in the future!

Framing an existing mirror. Soon my bathroom will look like this. :) |
How to recover a chair. Recovering my dining room chairs before school starts! |
I am going to sew some new curtains for our family room. |
My home never stays the same for longer than 6 months. Rearranging furniture, painting, moving pictures... That's what keeps the place "new" and exciting.
What makes you think of home?

Wow! You have a really green thumb - those plants are gorgeous. We just moved to a new apartment last year and we change the angle of the kitchen table and couch for a little variety. I'm still slowly adding some wall decorations.
ReplyDeleteI will echo your Behr suggestion. Great stuff.
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take for you to redo the cabinets, they look great (btw)

WOW! You are so ambitious to shake things up every 6 months. Too bad you live so far away or I might ask for your help. Sadly, my husband and I have lived in our house a little over eight years and there are still rooms unpainted. Yikes! Oh well. Your projects look awesome though!!!

I know what you mean about constantly having to redo things or fix thing up. I love the pictures of your flowers. Thanks for sharing. I can't wait to read more of your post.

Matt, thanks for the compliment. I wouldn't dare show a before pic, it was bad! We have a small set of L shaped cabinets, 10 ft. in length. My hubby used a palm sander on the old paint, probably 15 hours. I stripped all the doors, probably 15 hours. (The decorative trim was a pain!) We changed the pulls, so the holes had to be filled and new ones drilled. 1 coat of primer, 3 or 4 coats of paint. At least 40 hours spread over the course of a summer. Much more cost effective than new cabinets. Since technically my time is free and this is not our forever house.
ReplyDeleteNicole, we have a few rooms we haven't changed, like the guest room and main bathroom. Luckily, we were able to paint two rooms before we moved our furniture in. My recommendation, have a painting party. We had our paint savvy parents come help paint our front room and hall in one weekend.
